UCLAPAA EVENTS / INFORMATION:
1) Thank You Alumni, Students, and Friends!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
PAA’s 8th Annual Tailgate, "MAGANDANG UMAGA" was a huge success!
Thank you alumni, students, and friends for being there Saturday in
person and in spirit. We hope that you all had a lot of fun at both the
tailgate and the game. Even though the heat wave was “un-bearable”
at times both you and our beloved Bruins stuck it out to beat the Bears,
23 to 20. With Saturday’s victory, the Bruins remain undefeated in the
Pac 10 and in 1st place.
Special thanks goes out to longtime PAA advisor Aris Tagle for providing
the free UCLA seat cushions that everyone received. Additionally a warm
thanks goes out to all the volunteers and donors who helped make the
day successful.
If you would like to view pictures for the tailgate please visit the PAA
website at www.uclapaa.net or
go directly to the album using the following link: http://community.webshots.com/user/paa0304a.

I’m Going to College, the nation’s largest collegiate community outreach effort, has touched
the lives of thousands of elementary, middle and high school students across Southern California. Offered through Southern California school systems, this unique program couples the excitement and tradition of UCLA athletic events with a message about the importance
of higher education.
UCLA alumni, students and student-athletes are instrumental in facilitating the success of
this game-day program as they guide thousands of children through educational fairs,
campus tours and special attractions. Children delight in the success of Bruin teams. In addition, they leave I’m Going to College events with a greater understanding of the college environment and a feeling that it is an attainable goal.

8) Filipino-American Survey
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Forwarded from Doug Barlett:
From Nicole Gonowon:
My name is Nicole Gonowon, and I am an undergraduate research assistant
to E.J. David. E.J. David is a Clinical/Community Psychology PhD
student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The purpose of this e-mail is to ask all of you, and your other Filipino
members, relatives, and acquaintances who are 18 years old or older, to
complete a survey about Filipino American psychology. Upon completing
the survey, you will be eligible to win $100, $50, or $25. The survey is
on the Internet and may be completed at a time that is convenient to
you. It may be completed through any computer with an Internet access.
Your responses will be strictly confidential and secure. Your name and
other personal identifiers will not be asked in the survey. Also, it
will take you only approximately 30 minutes to complete.
Also, I am hoping that, you can pass this e-mail along to your members,
relatives, and other acquaintances so that they may complete the survey
as well if they wish.
Psychological research on Filipino Americans is rare, which is why we
believe our society lacks a deep understanding and appreciation of
Filipino Americans. With this group being the second largest Asian
American subgroup in the US, and with this group being the only ethnic
minority group that experienced direct US colonization, it is surprising
how little mainstream Americans know about Filipino Americans. We hope
that this psychological research on Filipino Americans will contribute
to a more accurate understanding, knowledge, and appreciation of our
people.
We humbly ask all of you to please take a few minutes of your time to
complete the survey. Also, please try and pass the word (and e-mail)
around to other Filipino Americans or Filipinos in America and ask them
to complete the survey. The more Filipino Americans we have
participating in this study, the more accurate and valid the results
will be.
If you wish to participate in this short Filipino American survey,
please reply to this e-mail. After that, the web address of the survey
and the password will be given to you so that you may access and
complete the survey.
Thank you very much for your time!
"Sana po ay pag-bigyan ninyo ng kaunting panahon ang aking proyekto.
Maraming-maraming salamat po."
Sincerely,
Nicole Gonowon

and memories, and looking forward to a bright new future for Visual
Communications. The event will kickoff the Linda Mabalot Legacy Fund, a
campaign to support programming and operations with the long-term goal
of an endowment fund. Sponsorship and proceeds from the event will
benefit Visual Communications' programs in Education, Preservation,
Production and Presentation.
